Over the years, hundreds of people were reportedly detained and subjected to torture without trial at Aynaghar, a secret detention facility operated by the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) in Bangladesh. DGFI officials, allegedly empowered by the Hasina government, were accused of abducting, detaining, and torturing individuals who dissented or spoke out against the regime. Many families continue to search for loved ones who became victims of enforced disappearances. Human rights organizations have documented over 600 cases of enforced disappearances since 2009, with more than 100 people still missing.
In this footage, victims who were released right after Hasina fled the country, talk about their hellish experience at Aynaghar.
